Principle

Treat urgency as a scam signal

A message, call, or pop-up tells you to act right now or something bad will happen.

Scammers manufacture urgency because thinking is their enemy. Frozen accounts, expiring warranties, arrest warrants, packages held at customs, a grandchild in jail. The threat changes. The pressure does not.

Your bank can wait an hour. The IRS sends letters and waits weeks. Amazon will not delete your account in 15 minutes. If the clock is ticking loudly, that is information about the sender, not the situation.
